Why take maternity photos?

Maternity photos are a wonderful way to capture those special moments before your baby arrives. The photos become cherished memories that you can share with your family for many years to come, and you don’t have to be a model—everyone can be part of the shoot. I often remind my pregnant clients that even though they might not feel completely comfortable in their bodies right now, in 5–10 years they’ll look back at these photos and be so glad they did it.

When should I book a maternity photo shoot?

Weeks 30–34 are the optimal time. The belly is round and visible, but not so heavy that it becomes uncomfortable to pose for long periods. Before week 28, the belly is often too small, and after week 36, your body may be too tired for a longer session.

If you’re unsure, go ahead and book a date—you can always reschedule up to 24 hours in advance if it doesn’t feel quite right yet.

Here's How a Maternity Photo Shoot Works

The photo shoot will take place in my studio at Vesterbrogade 171. We’ll take our time, and I’ll guide you through the entire process.

We talk about your wishes We discuss what you want for your images — posing, clothes, hair — and how I guide you all the way through the session.

We take the first photos I adjust the light and background.

You follow along on screen Throughout the process I show you the images, and you can give feedback and request changes.

Two setups We can do 2 setups (background/clothes change).

Select at home We spend about 45 minutes in front of the camera. You select your images at home in an online gallery.

Everything You Need to Know About Maternity Photography

What happens after your maternity photo shoot?

Your Personal Gallery

Shortly after the photo shoot, you’ll receive a link and login information for your personal online gallery. Here, you can view all the photos and choose your favorites at your own pace from the comfort of your home.

The photos in the gallery are unedited and watermarked. I’ll adjust the lighting, colors, and make the final edits only after you’ve selected your photos.

Choose Your Favorites

In the gallery, you can:

Create favorite lists with the photos you like best.
Leave comments on the photos with requests or questions.
Send me your final selection.

If you select more photos than your package includes, the additional photos will be billed separately.

Editing and Delivery

Once I’ve received your selection, I’ll edit the photos and prepare them for delivery. This usually takes 2–5 business days. If you have a specific date you need the photos by, please let me know when you book.

Take your time choosing

There’s generally no deadline, but I recommend that you select your photos before you give birth.

Can I bring my own ideas and inspirational photos?

Yes, please feel free to send me a few photos that inspire you via text message or email before the photo shoot. Then we can discuss your ideas and the look you’re going for.

The photos on my profiles show only a small selection of my work, so please feel free to ask if you have something specific in mind.

What if I don't know how to pose?

You don’t need to have any prior experience in front of a camera. It’s perfectly normal to feel unsure, and you don’t need to know how to pose beforehand.

I’ll guide you through the entire photo shoot and show you how to stand and move. We’ll take it at a relaxed pace so you feel comfortable as we create your maternity photos together.

Do you offer outdoor maternity photography?

No, the maternity photo shoot takes place in my studio. Here, I can adjust the lighting and background so we can create the photos in a calm and comfortable setting.

Can I borrow dresses or clothes from the studio?

I do not offer dress rentals. Please bring your own clothes, and feel free to find inspiration in my guide to choosing outfits for maternity photo shoots.

Can my partner and my children come along?

Photos with Your Family

Yes, your partner and children are welcome. We can take family photos as well as more intimate photos of you and your partner, if you’d like.

When the kids are there

Young children may need some time to settle in and feel comfortable participating. That’s completely natural.

Consider bringing an extra adult who can keep the kids occupied while I photograph you.
The 75-minute package might be a good choice if you’d like more time and a relaxed atmosphere.

Please feel free to note in the comments section of your booking if you’re bringing your partner or children along.

Practical Information

Changing Your Booking

You can reschedule your booking to a new date or time up to 24 hours before your appointment. Open your confirmation email and click “Change booking.”

If you need to cancel, please contact me as soon as possible at kontakt@weigang.dk or 52 23 32 32.

When You Arrive

I often have back-to-back photo sessions. Therefore, the door may be locked if you arrive early. This simply means I’m with a client—I’ll open the door as soon as I’m ready.

Arrive early and enjoy a cup of coffee

If you arrive early, you’re welcome to visit Copenhagen Coffee Lab at Vesterbrogade 186, diagonally across from the studio, before your photo shoot.
